JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Accountant           

Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)       

Reports to: Finance Director

Work Location:  115 N. Cedar Street, Greensboro, NC  27401

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Accountant performs advanced record keeping and accounting work including, but not limited to all phases of accounts payables, accounts receivables, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and other account maintenance functions.

  • Collects daily deposit sheets for all retail store and mixed beverage locations and verifies accuracy. Enter deposits into workbook used to balance accounts at the end of the month.
  • Responsible for uploading receivables to Fintech after verification of revenue, making any necessary changes to balance the batch.
  • Reconciles operating bank account monthly and records necessary journal entries for cash over/short, merchant fees, change fund transactions, etc. Researches any discrepancies.  Follows up on NSF’s made to mixed beverage and ensures they are re-deposited.
  • Responsible for disputing any merchant chargebacks.
  • Responsible for all aspects of accounts payable, with the exception of distiller payables, including vendor maintenance, invoice and credit memo review and verification, and weekly check run. Sends Positive Pay files to bank.
  • Maintains electronic payable records.
  • Responsible for Form 1099 distribution annually.
  • Records all payroll related journal entries.
  • Serves as back-up to Senior Accountant for distiller payables.
  • Performs miscellaneous account reconciliations.
  • Prepares quarterly profit distribution letters for grant program recipients, City, County, and other municipalities.
  • Performs other duties as required by law, the Board, the General Manager, or by rules and regulations of the NC ABC Commission.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • At least five (5) years of accounting experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience in retail, restaurant, banking, local government or other relevant public or private sector operations management, retail liquor, wine or beer sales, or similar regulated business operations is considered a plus.

Skills:

  • Computer Knowledge – Must have advanced level of proficiency with computers and computer software to include Navision and Microsoft Excel, Work, Outlook.
  • Writing – Must be able to write correspondence clearly and precisely on an intermediate level to communicate with fellow employees, board members, and the public.
  • Organizational Skills – Must possess excellent organizational skills and pay meticulous attention to details. Must be capable of multi-tasking and handling several projects simultaneously.
  • Reading Comprehension – Must be able to read and understand Greensboro ABC Guidelines, State and local guidelines, as well as North Carolina ABC laws/rules and policies at an advanced level.
  • Confidentiality – Must maintain high level of confidentiality due to duties concerning employees, salaries, budgeting, etc. Must follow Greensboro ABC Board Employee Manual policy.
  • Emotional Intelligence – Must be aware and manage emotions that drive behaviors and impact others (positive or negatively).

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, working a 40-hour week or as deemed necessary by the General Manager

Travel:

  • Travel to ABC store location, warehouse, bank, or other locations as required.
